FLIGHTS/AIRFARE:

From the U.S. to Cartagena

  • Generally, flights from most major U.S. cities to Colombia range between $350-$450 round trip on the low end.

  • Domestic flights to Cartagena (CTG) from Bogota (BOG) or Medellin (MDE) range around $35-$60 each way in advance.

  • Barranquilla (BAQ) is a large coastal port city about a two hour bus ride to Cartagena, and though we haven’t done it, could also be a good option for flying into or out of.

  • If connecting through BOG or MDE, immigration lines can be long, so try and leave at least a couple hours for the connection.

  • Copa Airlines and Avianca Airlines are both excellent one-stop options from many cities.

REDEEMING MILES:

If redeeming miles, Star Alliance (Avianca, United, Copa, Lufthansa etc) will have the most options. After, Oneworld* (American, British Airways, LATAM, Iberia etc) should have the second best options. Skyteam (AF/KLM, Delta, Aeromexico etc) is also a good option from many places. Jetblue's TrueBlue program and Interjet could also be great redemption options.

*Booking AA/Oneworld miles from the U.S. will require calling in and requesting the Bogota-Cartagena LATAM flight to be added manually (it won't show up on the AA search tool)
